How do you find time to blog?

I recently had a conversation with one of my very good friends who isn’t into blogging. Actually it seems like most of my real-life friends (haha) don’t understand blogging. Even though I win giveaways often. Even though I have the opportunity to review great products and share them with my mom friends. If that’s not going to draw non-bloggers, I don’t know what will. Maybe you really do have to just love blogging and online communities. I know that I do. I was a blogger for a full year before I figured out how to “socialize”, lol. I would post and no one would comment (or I would get one in a blue moon – have no idea how they found me), but I was undaunted. I continued because I loved it. And eventually I figured out the best way to run my blog, though I’m still learning.

I guess this leads to the question, “Why do you blog?”

I blog because (again) I love it. It’s a way to share my life and my daughter with extended family, it’s a way to share my thoughts on life and get feedback from other moms and friends all over, and I love to offer giveaways and honest reviews on the popular baby products out there. There are so many opportunities and I have met many amazing moms through blogging. Just last week I met a fellow blogging mama IRL (in real life) (Erin at Connected2Christ) and I’m so glad I did because we really are kindred spirits! We each have a baby girl born in May 2008, were homeschooled, are Christians, and have a passion for blogging (or maybe it’s just gabbing, lol). If I hadn’t had a blog, I probably wouldn’t have met her and we would have just smiled at each other in Target while we perused the adorable baby dresses and moved on, not knowing a potential good friend was right there. Not knowing that we both love social networking and have probably entered each other’s giveaways – I wonder how many other mom bloggers I pass on the street or even live in my apartment? Okay, I’m getting off track here, but you get my meaning. Blogging becomes a part of your life, a wonderful one!

So back to the original question: How do I find TIME to blog?

Well personally, it’s just a matter of priorities. My house might be a little more cluttered than the average non-blogger. We might have to have Top Ramen or mac ‘n cheese for lunch one day because I “got lost” in Blog Land. I don’t do a lot of mall-shopping, and my reading time has been cut way down (which is sad), but it’s worth it! I think people find time for what they want to do, for their priorities. My sister, for instance, has a full-time job 45 minutes away from home, has three kids, and does the majority of the planning, cooking, and cleaning herself. But she’s found time to sew some very adorable baby blankets, burpies, and bibs, run an Etsy store, and take college classes! How does she find the TIME? I have no idea, but obviously it can be done when you put your mind to it.

That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it! ;-)

  • You know, I recently posted asking how people manage everything because of blogging. I was going to write something like this, too. I think that a lot of people are taking bloggy breaks because they’re just overwhelmed. I blog because I truly love the social interaction. I also talk A LOT.

  • Great post!

I wake earlier than the family for a couple of reasons…one is to blog, to gather my thoughts, to plan my day. I too have won a couple giveaways, have had some free things sent my way to review and just plain enjoy the aspect of online journaling my journey to the person I want to be.

  • Right now I blog while my son is coloring or napping- I think it’s going to definitely get more difficult once our new baby shows up in a few weeks, but it’s something that’s important to me, so I will make it a priority.

Yes, I’ve met quite a few bloggers in real life. One is coming over with her kids for a playdate this afternoon! I met my husband on match.com, so meeting people online isn’t too weird for me.

I think that I’ve talked one person into starting a blog so far.

  • Well, I haven’t been blogging for very long, but I am enjoying it so far. I would love to meet a bloggy friend IRL just because I think that would be cool. I started my blog just to keep family/friends updated on my kids and was surprised at what a great online support system is out there! Blogging has totally become one of my favorite activities.

  • Great post.

I haven’t met anyone IRL but that doesn’t surprise me as I live in a crazy small town.

I haven’t got the whole timing thing down just yet. I’m working on it and I feel that for me at least it might be a work in progress for the rest of my life.

I wish I could find more time for commenting and just socializing. I read a lot more blogs then I manage to comment on and I feel bad about that but usually I’m running around and read one paragraph (or sentence) at a time and or I have a baby in one arm and just don’t feel like typing one handed yet again. I’m lazy like that but working on it.

  • I’m glad we met in real life! How cool is it that a random comment to your blog which I have been reading for the past few months would spark a new found friendship? All in God’s timing right? I think it’s awesome.

I find time to blog in during nap time or when my daughter decides that’s she happy roaming about the house pulling things out of the kitchen or browsing through her books. Sometimes my daughter preoccupation gives me time to blog too. :)

  • Ellybean: I hear you, and I’m glad I’m not the only one letting my daughter wreak havoc (okay, not quite that bad, but she’s a busy little bee) while I blog, lol.

Jinxy: I know, I never have enough time to comment on all the great blogs I read!

  • Cool Post Lindsey!

How do YOU find time to blog? Well, I sneak breaks in whenever the children are occupied doing other things. I also stay up way later than I should, but you gotta do what you gotta do..right?!?

Have you ever met a blogger in real life? I’ve only been blogging for about 2 months so I haven’t met anyone yet. I would love to though. If you live in the Houston area contact me. We may live close enough to meet up!

How many of your friends have you been able to convince to start a blog? That would be NONE! My husband is the only other IRL person I know that has a blog.

  • Very pleased to come here.Your blog gives us a good feeling.Nice to meet you.Look forward to communicating with you.We want to invite you to our blog at any time you want.
    Have a wonderful day!

  • I’ve just started a blog and have made a few posts. I decided to start a blog because I want to ramble on/vent/get advice on the raisings of my six children and family life. I also decided to start a blog because I would like to do product reviews and/or giveways. It’s also a great way to get extra entries in giveaways. And yet another reason I decided to start a blog was to post about freebies and deals that I come across. I subscribe to over 200 blog updates by e-mail because I like to read other’s blogs. And this was before I even started a blog of my own. I think it would be great to meet fellow bloggers.
I’m still new to the blog world in terms of what I need to do to get more followers, product reviews, postings, and socializations. Any advice from fellow bloggers would be greatly appreciated.

  • Visiting from BPOTW! :)

I have to admit that i make time for blogging because i’m happier and slightly saner when i do. :)

  • I’ve always had a passion for writing and this is my outlet! I can write about what’s important to me, what I love. I’m very new to blogging, but hopelessly addicted :)
