Beginning March 1, Walt Disney’s Bambi will finally be available in a Blu-Ray and DVD combination Diamond Edition.  The picture and sound are enhanced and it has been completely digitally restored – so now you and your kids can enjoy it together in better quality than ever seen before!

If this is your first time seeing Bambi, you’re in for a treat.  This charming story gives us a peek into the life of a young deer, from his birth to his coming-of-age.  His friends, Thumper the rabbit and Flower the skunk are sweet woodland friends of his and add to the tale of his life.  He faces sorrow, joy, romance, and fear as he grows older, and we feel it all along with him – and learn along with him.

We Watched It!

I loved this movie when I was a kid!  The characters are really endearing and I somehow am always drawn in emotionally, even though I know it’s just a cartoon.  Yes, I’m guilty of crying at certain parts.  The art is beautiful and the music is a huge part of each scene, bringing the emotion of the each moment to life.

I think children and adults view this movie differently, though.  To me, the music and art make it a pleasure to watch.  To a child, watching the little fawn grow into a young buck is fascinating and fun.  Emma (almost 3) giggled while watching the owl scold the woodland creatures and laughed as Bambi tried his wobbly legs out for the first time after he was born.    It really is a movie everyone should see at least once!

I was pleased with the digital restoration – this film looked great!  Here’s the trailer for it:

And the special features are terrific – some of the highlights include two never-before-seen deleted scenes and a deleted song along with The Making of Bambi and games and activities for the kids.
