So here’s what I had to do!

There is this reeeeeally high shelf with bar on one wall, so I hung a canvas shoe organizer on it (perfect for baby shoes, little hair things, bibs, etc), and a toy organizer (the green thing) from Ikea holds Emma’s random toys and stuffed animals.  It worked out pretty well and Emma loves heading over there to get her stuff!

If you have any other organizing ideas or ideas on how to make it look better, I’d love to hear!

  • My only suggestion to make it look better would be to move the green Ikea organizer to the right side of the rod, away from the window. That way there is less stuff blocking the view. What do you think?

  • Unfortunately I don’t have any advice, but I do feel for you. For about six months when I was 17-18 I lived at my boyfriends moms place, and she took us in because we had nowhere else to go, but she didn’t have a regular bedroom for us, so we converted her extra living room or ‘family room’ into a bedroom. It worked because it was very large, and was off to one end of the house so it did ‘feel’ like a bedroom other than the fact that it had no closet. We mainyl only needed the closet for dress clothes, which neither of us wear very often, so we just bought totes and left them awkwardly off to one wall, but it didn’t look very nice. Plus we’d have to think ahead if we needed dress clothes, so we could iron them or throw them in the dryer to straighten them before they could be worn. Was a bummer.

  • My son’s room doesn’t have a closet either (old house, what can I say). I’d like to get an armoire for him, but so far I just put his clothes in the dresser. Hangable things go into my bedroom’s walk-in, which we built on part of our upstairs porch. Our house is weird!

You could add a small bookshelf (or one of those cheap wire ones that you assemble) under the rod and put some bins for storage on that, yet still have the clothes on the rod accessible.
