Giveaway! JumpStart Online Educational Virtual Gaming for Kids (Preschoolers, Too!)

Emma, my 3-year-old, is now officially addicted to this awesome online 3D virtual world: JumpStart. She started playing it about a month ago, when I signed her up for a free membership. She loves StoryLand, the world created especially for preschoolers!

StoryLand is the only world that you navigate completely by clicking the mouse rather than the arrow buttons, and since Emma has mastered the mouse already, it was nice that she could jump in and start playing immediately, not having to learn the arrow controls (until later). There are a ton of things for her to do in StoryLand, including listen to records at a jukebox, watch short videos, decorate her own house, grow flowers, play games in the schoolhouse (seen below), and much more!

The games in the schoolhouse are the only reason I considered paying for JumpStart. I love that they combine favorite games like memory and learning your alphabet or numbers! There are many, many educational games that Emma loves to play and that teach thoroughly many concepts shell need to know and practice over time including the alphabet, numbers, phonics, memorization, critical thinking, and more. Here are some examples of the games:

While playing the educational games in StoryLand, Emma can earn rewards for completing each game correctly. She loves this and gets excited at each new present she gets after beating a level. For instance, she might earn a piece of furniture for her house or a record to play at the jukebox. Its a great system, one that keeps kids involved and interacting in the world and learning!

Another favorite activity is changing her characters look:

With the free membership, we were given just enough access to all the games and features to get us hooked, then I began to look into getting her a full membership. This is very reasonable at $7.99 a month, or there is a yearly fee or a lifetime fee. And you dont just get access to the entire virtual world, you also get four downloadable JumpStart games and access to MathBlaster.com. Up to six kids can be on the same account!

If you are worried about safety, know that while youre in each world (for preschoolers its StoryLand), your child is playing alone and doesnt have access to other people. But your older children can play together with friends I think it adds a new dimension to the game that kids will love!

Other fun things your child can do in StoryLand:

  • Paint, draw, and decorate pictures in the Art Studio
  • Read stories in the Library
  • Take photos of areas in StoryLand they love
  • Go shopping in the grocery store
  • Make music in the Music House
  • Take a ride in a truck in Town
  • Raise and care for pets
  • Play at a beach (and ride in a submarine!)
  • Explore a jungle
  • and much more! (And remember, this is only StoryLand!)

Final Thoughts:

I really am impressed with JumpStart and can recommend it wholeheartedly! After my six-month membership runs out I plan on renewing Emma loves it and I think its very worth the price for the educational benefits and gameplay. It makes a wonderful reward for good behavior, too! 🙂
