…the new place.  If you have no idea what I’m talking about, read my post about switching doctors mid-pregnancy.  ;-)

It. Was. Awesome.  Well, they made a great first impression, anyway.  They got me in and out of there in ONE hour and I heard the baby’s heartbeat, was measured, and had my blood drawn for that gestational diabetes test.  All in that one hour!  Seriously, at my last appointment at the LAST clinic, I waited for 2 1/2 hours with my 2-year-old in tow to see someone, anyone, just to get a checkup.  So am I happy with my new clinic so far?  Definitely yes.

The gestational diabetes test?  That consisted of me drinking a bottle of sugar soda with a slight taste of lemon-lime to it.  Yuck.  I felt kind of sick after, too, but I think that’s because it was 8:15 AM and I drank it in less than 2 minutes.  I don’t normally down overly sweet sodas first thing.  Probably good.

Oh cool, I just found out I can go online and look at my test results and appointments and everything with this new place.  Awwwwwwesome!  I already can see that I don’t have gestational diabetes.  I didn’t think I did, but they did tell me I shouldn’t eat too much sugar because I can still develop it later on.  That’s a tough thing to ask of me, but I’ll try!  ;-)

Isaac’s heartbeat was 130 bpm this time.  I really don’t know what it’s been the last few times because nobody told me and I didn’t think to ask at the time.  They always said he is normal and healthy, though.  I thought 130 was kind of low, but that might be the worrying mommy in me.  The NP didn’t seem concerned at all, though.

I had just downed that sugar drink before the Doppler so he was probably in a slight sugar coma, lol.

  • So glad the switch worked out!

  • I’m glad it worked out for you! I know how it feels to change doctors. I just delivered in August and my doctor told me 3 weeks before I delivered that she was moving out of state and someone else would be doing my delivery. I was devastated. Luckily it all worked out and I got an awesome new doctor out of it but it is so stressfull when you are pregnant!

    • Oh, that would be stressful! We can’t help but want familiar faces and places when we’re giving birth – we need to know we’re being taken care of! I’m glad your new doctor is awesome!

  • Yay!! I’m so glad it went so well. Hopefully they’ll keep up the good work, and you’ll have nothing but smooth sailing from now on.

As far as the heart rate – 130 is totally normal. Jace and Parker both had heart rates in the 120s and 130s. Ashley, Zander, Lucy, and this baby all had heartbeats in the 150s to 180s. All totally normal, and nothing to worry about. :)

  • So glad everything is going well!!

  • Sounds good. I was 17 weeks with my first GDM test and negative, but positive at 27 weeks with a second test. Yet, I was border-line before pregnancy, so…

  • It’s always nice to have a dr (and office!) that you like! And having to wait for so long (at the other place) is ridiculous, even if you didn’t have a little one with you!
SO cool that you can check your test results online! Great idea. So glad to hear you dont have Gestational Diabetes. It is no fun.
I haven’t stopped by in a while and didn’t know you were having a boy. Congrats!!! Love the name too!
Not too much longer to go. Are you ready?! =)
