Learning Resources Pretend & Play Ice Cream Shop (Giveaway Closed)

What children dont like to pretend theyre running a shop? Especially if it involves sweets. 🙂

When my sister and I were kids, we used Monopoly money and became shopkeepers selling many wares. We would have loved something like this ice cream shop in a box from Learning Resources, Im sure!

This imaginative role-playing toy set comes with four scoops of ice cream, two different types of cones, two ice cream dishes (one for a sundae and one for a banana split), a banana that splits into two pieces, two spoons, an ice cream scooper, an apron, a write-and-wipe menu card, and a chocolate syrup bottle that makes it look like youre really pouring chocolate syrup!

Emma enjoys playing ice cream shop girl immensely. She made me a banana split with chocolate syrup

and an ice cream cone for herself. Yum!

The scoops of ice cream are a little hard to keep secure on that cone

but they stay perfectly snug on this waffle cone! I prefer waffle cones myself anyway 🙂

Splitting the banana is great for practicing her cutting/slicing skills.

I forgot how much coordination slicing involves when youre first learning! And no, I dont cut bananas this way Im not sure where she gets that!

Note that the knife came from a fruit-cutting set we already have.

So what do we think?

Anything that involves ice cream and candy is fun for a kid, and this is no exception. It has everything you need to make a sundae, ice cream cone, and banana split, and there are enough pieces that even three or four kids could play with it at once. The apron runs a little big, that would be one complaint but you can knot it behind your little ones neck so that it fits better if you want. Overall this is a great playset with a reasonable price for all of the pieces you receive and the fun your little ones will have!
