Kids love to role play, whether it’s pretending to cook and clean like mommy and daddy or be a person with an interesting job like a doctor or construction worker. There are so many great imaginative toys and playsets out nowadays, too. Learning Resources is a wonderful place to look for playsets like this! Check out the Sprouts Cure It! My Very Own Doctor Set, a new addition to Learning Resources’ site:
It Includes:
Doctor’s Bag
Stethoscope
Syringe
Bandage
Ear Scope
Thermometer
This is a really great set for little hands – and kids like Emma who want their toys to be as “real” as possible. The stethoscope stays in her ears well, the syringe can be pumped and appears to take in blood as you release the end of it, the thermometer spins so that the color changes from yellow to red (indicating a normal or abnormal temperature), the bandage is perfect for a tiny doll’s or stuffed animal’s wrist or leg. All of the pieces are chunky and sturdy and have been enjoyed by both my 4-year-old and my almost 2-year-old.
To Buy or Not To Buy?
I appreciate the fact that it comes with a doctor’s bag that all of the pieces fit into, meaning it can be put away and stored easily. All of the pieces have held up well over the month they’ve been played with with the exception of the thermometer which, when twisted to the wrong way, the sticker inside starts to peel up. However, this hasn’t hampered Emma’s play one bit and she absolutely loves playing doctor with this set. Recently when my husband was sick enough to have to lie on the couch all day, she got everything out and examined him, using each piece correctly. At the end, she told him matter-of-factly that he was “very sick”. ;-) I highly recommend this as a great gift for a child from ages 2 to 5!
