Throughout both of my pregnancies (and after), I’ve been fortunate enough to have an inflatable birthing/exercise ball.  These balls are really the best to have around when you’re hugely pregnant and uncomfortable sitting on the couch or floor, and can also be used during pregnancy to exercise on – and during labor to speed things along.  Unfortunately, my first pregnancy ball (a regular exercise ball from the store) developed a hole in it.  So for this pregnancy, I’ve used the Bounce-A-Bye Baby Ball from Luna Lullaby.

Some of the things I really like about the Luna Lullaby Bounce-a-Bye Baby birthing balls:

  • They come in three different colors with sweet, cheerful images to choose from including a frog, a butterfly, and a puppy.
  • Each ball arrives with a stabilizing base, a hand pump, and a pamphlet with suggestions for use and detailed care instructions.
  • The balls are all anti-burst.
  • They’re made of a non-slip rubber.

My Experience:

I’ve now used this ball for my entire pregnancy and it has held up perfectly!  Despite the fact that I gained more than I wanted to, it is still holding my weight well – and no wonder since it’s been weight-tested up to 600 pounds!  I’m not quite there yet.  ;-)  I did ditch the stability support stand after awhile because I like to move around on the ball and move it from side to side rather than just sit in one place and bounce.  The stand is helpful to have while exercising, though.

I haven’t had a chance to use it to soothe my baby since he hasn’t seen fit to show his face outside of my womb as of yet, but I used my last stability ball to do that and it was very helpful so I know I’ll be using this one for the same purpose.  Something about the repetitive motion and cuddling in mommy’s arms really does wonders for baby.  :)

These balls are also tons of fun for your children to play on once you’re done with them, too.  I personally like to have one around to sit on for fun, and my 2 1/2-year-old thinks our birthing ball is the coolest thing ever.  So they really are a product that you’ll get a lot of use out of over time.  And like I said, they last!  Since I inflated my ball with the hand pump (super easy, by the way), I haven’t had to re-inflate it or anything.

I recommend the Bounce-a-Bye Baby as a great gift for any expecting mom or even a new mommy.  You can purchase one at Luna Lullaby for $39.00.
