This is such an easy activity – all you need are small, flat rocks of similar size and a sharpie*!
You can, of course, paint the rocks first but if you want to keep it simple know that it can be done attractively. :)
Say the verse or poem with your child a few times, then scramble the rocks and let your child put them back in order. This is wonderful reading practice (sight words) as well!
It can be used to practice number and alphabet order with toddlers, too.
*I highly recommend using Paint Sharpies rather than regular, though you can try regular and see if they work. Paint sharpies are amazingly clear and precise, though. :) The ink stands out nicely.
