I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Arm & Hammer. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
Between the holidays and the freezing winter weather, I find myself doing sooo much laundry lately! My parents visited last week for a few days, bringing their dogs with them, and the kids seemed to be pulling on all their layers of clothing twice as much as usual during that time. And since it wasn’t snowy, they tracked in lots of mud.
If you’re like me, you appreciate honest reviews of products used in our day-to-day lives. So here’s mine on Arm & Hammer’s Ultra Power 4X Concentrated detergent, which claims to make laundry 50% whiter AND 50% fresher!
Of course, Arm & Hammer detergents feature Arm & Hammer baking soda, and two scoops are added to the Ultra 4X. Baking soda is one of those not-so-secret, inexpensive cleaning solutions that really make a difference – in laundry, it brightens, can be helpful in stain removal, and takes care of any unwanted odors so it’s a much-appreciated ingredient to this detergent.
On removing the lid, the scent is definitely pleasing. Refreshing falls! Well, maybe not the scent of a waterfall (are waterfalls scented?), but it is strong and a nice clean scent for your laundry. I generally find I need to pour enough detergent in my washer to reach the “max” line rather than the “normal” for my laundry loads (probably because I put too many clothes in at once), but as this detergent is concentrated I filled it only to the “normal” line the first time I used it. I’m glad to be able to say that my laundry came out smelling great! I have for years wondered why my laundry didn’t smell like the supposed flowers or clean mountain air smell that some detergents brag about, and I think I’ve finally found one that really works and that I like! I didn’t add fabric softener or anything else to the load that could have added to the scent, either.
You can also pre-treat stains with Arm & Hammer Ultra by applying the detergent directly to the stain, rubbing it in, then waiting 5-10 minutes and washing. This didn’t work as well for me as my go-to stain remover, though. (I don’t think I can mention it here since this is a sponsored post but if you search “stain” on my blog you’ll find it.)
I wanted to note that this detergent can be used with high efficiency washers (like mine)!
Final Thoughts: I’ve come to the conclusion that the Arm & Hammer Ultra 4X Concentrated detergent works much better than the regular 2X Arm & Hammer detergents I have used in the past. You can use less liquid with better results!
