I’m back! These last few weeks have seemed to fly by – we’ve been crazy busy! First, I went on a women’s retreat at the coast with my sister and had a great time. We shopped, walked the beach (briefly… it was cold!), and studied the Bible with some other wonderful women. I was also part of the worship team and really enjoyed singing with two other women with a heart for God. It was a getaway I needed and it most definitely refreshed me. :)
A couple days after I returned from the retreat my family of four left for a road trip to visit family. That was also fun though extremely tiring. Driving 11 hours with kids is no joke! That’s one way. We left in the afternoon and arrived at about 2 a.m. The kids slept through much of the ride but when we got there Jade immediately was wide awake and could not sleep until about 4 a.m. so that wasn’t a great night’s sleep for me. The rest of the trip was a whirlwind of visiting different family members and friends, then it was suddenly time for the drive home. *sigh* Another long drive, this time done in the daytime. Actually the drive back was much easier, even if it did take all day. What a relief to get back home to my own place, my own bed! I am truly a lover of the comforts of home.
Last week was supposed to be a time of rest but the kids ended up catching a cold so I spent most of the time taking care of them and hoping I wouldn’t catch it. I haven’t yet, though I’m pretty tired so I think I’m fighting it off. Hoping I miss out all together because they had sore throats and I have always hated sore throats the most. I had terrible sore throats growing up in Alaska, I remember them being unbearably painful. Since we moved from there I’ve never had a sore throat that severe again! Makes me wonder if the climate there didn’t agree with me.
This week I plan to get us back into a routine, jump into Kindergarten again, and do some Spring cleaning. And there are some nice sunny days coming up, so I anticipate being able to be outside! I have a couple of goals for the kids, one of which is to create behavior jars and figure out some system to encourage them to have better attitudes. I like that the mom at that link has a reward jar! I’ve been too easy on my kiddos lately and they’re beginning to think they are owed time on the computer/TV/Kindle even when they aren’t acting nicely. This is not good! Time to get some order in our lives and teach them responsibility. :-)
The last few days have been beautiful outside, and yesterday there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and it was 75 degrees. It was like a summer preview. :) Can you believe that my yard is that green all year long? Come to the Pacific Northwest where it raaaaaaaaaaains all year long and you too can enjoy such vibrant green! Bring your galoshes! But seriously, is it just me or are my kids cute? I love that I’m able to take some outside pics. :)
Well, that’s it for now! I got up extra early this morning so that I could finish this post but the kids will be up soon and I must shower so I can be prepared for the day. Leave a comment, tell me what you’ve been doing the last few weeks!
