Teaching Myself to Sew…

Although I looove crafts and creating in general and have been sharing sewing tutorials for awhile now, Im a beginner myself when it comes to sewing. Ive only ever done smaller sewing projects as a teen, and I tended to let my mom do most of it. You know, all the hard stuff.

But guess what? My mom gave me her sewing machine (because shes moving and because she loves me) and Ive been teaching myself to sew the last few days! Ive had a blast with it, too. I thought I might be too impatient, but Im enjoying it so far. 🙂

I attended a good friends baby shower today and I was hoping to be able to make her some nice gifts. I made her two appliqued onesies one with her little baby-to-bes first initial on it and the other with a super cute tie on it. I also sewed up two burp cloths with an adorable flannel animal fabric:

All in all I was happy with what I made for my friend something personal and useful and am happy with my first sewing projects as well! Well, the two onesies werent stitched but I might take them back and stitch around the appliques for her for added stability.

Here are the FANTASTIC tutorials I followed online for each project

I cant wait to start another sewing project!
