Theo is a brand new animated series for kids that teaches the Bible! It features three characters: Theo, a sweet, grandfatherly fellow with a white moustache who is very wise about concepts like faith, obedience, and forgiveness; and two quirky mice who are sure to bring laughter at their antics.
About Theo: Theo Presents is centered around the adventures and teachings of the main character, Theo, a student of Godʼs Word. Theo lives in a cozy corner of a quaint English village, in the heart of the Cotswolds, and entertains many guests, including two mice, Belfry and Luther.
The animation series of Theo guides children and adults through a careful study of systematic theology. Theo discusses doctrines about sin, Godʼs character, the Bible, salvation and godly living with easy-to-understand illustrations that make children want to learn more about the Christian faith.
Thanks to Theo Presents, I received a DVD with two episodes on it:
“Good News” – In this episode, Theo explains that we are separated from God because we sin, but that we can come to Him through Jesus Christ. The visuals are awesome – they make everything Theo describes very clear. The scriptures they used were perfect, too. I think they did a great job of explaining why we need God while keeping it light and entertaining at the same time!
(You can watch this entire episode here on YouTube!)
“Saving Faith” – In this episode, Theo shares the story of Abraham, telling us how he had faith in God’s promises. I loved the animated Abraham and Sarah story and the way Theo told it. Back in the cottage, the two hilarious mice are planning a way to get Theo’s freshly baked cookies. This was my favorite episode of the two on the sampler DVD I received – such a great way to explain faith to children!
There are currently four episodes that can be purchased either on DVD or as digital episodes. You can watch samples or purchase them here.
Final Thoughts: I really love this series and can’t wait to see what they come up with in the future! It’s very worth buying and keeping these DVDs on your shelf, and they make a great children’s church curriculum, too!
