My Thoughts/Review:

Okay, that synopsis is not doing this book justice. But my attempts at a short synopsis are pretty sad because this is a very involved book there is so much going on!

You have probably deduced by now from my rating that I loved this book. I did! Karen Hancock is an amazing author. My first book written by Karen was Arena, a book that I HIGHLY recommend if youre into sci-fi and fantasy actually I recommend it whether youre into that genre or not. Then theres the Legends of the Guardian King series shes won Christy Awards for all four of these books!

But back to The Enclave. This was not a quick, easy read. It took me about two weeks to get through it all (and thats something for me). Partly due to the fact that the book jumps between three protagonists it was a bit confusing at times, but I was very interested in each person. And when it all came together, it was totally worth it! Its one of those books you cant wait to read a second time. You know youll enjoy it even more now that you know whats going on. You can kind of bask in the brilliance. lol

I think The Enclave will appeal to many different types of readers. Although it sounds normal, it develops into something that is anything but. Its futuristic. Its a thriller, thats for sure I couldnt put it down from the get-go. Youre wondering about strange occurences in the facility, why the bosses seem to be trying to cover up the terrifying things that are happening to Lacey. Youre wondering who the boy in the underground world is and how he fits into the book. I had many theories as I read the book, but I wasnt prepared for the end. Dont you love books that have you questioning, wondering what in the world is going on? I have to admit that it ended way too fast, though. I would definitely be open to a sequel!

In the midst of all this, Cameron and Lacey have their spiritual struggles. They are scientists, after all. Any scientist who believes that the world was created by God is going to be persecuted. I found the whole scientist/Christian element intensely interesting.

Secret illegal projects, strange and terrifying deaths, and a message of trusting God despite our view of the world being totally shattered there is so much to this book but I dont want to give anything away! All I can say is that this is an inspiring, exciting read and one that I recommend enthusiastically!
