Using Music to Memorize Facts (Audio Memory Review!)

This is a special review because not only is fact memorization using music something Ive been working with my daughter on, its something I used very successfully myself when I was a kid! You may or may not know that I was homeschooled growing up. My mom found Audio Memorys Grammar Songs and it helped me SO MUCH to remember important grammar facts like the definitions of adverbs, adjectives, nouns, prepositions, and verbs, all with catchy songs that my sister and I learned and loved to sing. Of course, back then it was cassette tapes. Now she has CDs and DVDs as well!

See a sample of the DVD version of the Verb song:

Audio Memory doesnt just cover grammar there are also programs for math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), geography, history, states and capitals, and the Bible! Besides the Grammar Songs kit, I received States and Capitals Songs, Addition Songs, Multiplication and Division Songs, and Geography Songs for review.

Memorization doesnt come easy to everyone (definitely not to me). Audio Memory provides a fun way of learning necessary facts through music! There are different options for learning the songs: You can buy a DVD that is a kind of sing-a-long song DVD it shows you the words as the song plays so that kids can read along with it, OR the CD/Book pack provides a book with the lyrics and the CD full of songs.

Besides lyrics, the books in the CD/Book sets include activities, games, and other learning resources for your kids. The States and Capitals and Geography Songs programs even contain large poster maps that you can color and hang on your wall. Everything is designed to reinforce concepts, helping the memorizer to retain what he or she is learning.

Ive already begun teaching Emma the Grammar Songs simply by letting her play the music every day in her CD player in her room while she plays or colors. She doesnt yet know what shes learning but later shell benefit from this early memorization, I know. I know from experience! 🙂 Im excited about being able to help her learn and refreshing my own memory, too.

Can I recommend the Audio Memory program? Most definitely! This is an awesome resource for homeschooling or helping your children at home to remember things theyll need to know in school. The songs will come to mind as they are working, and theyll thank you later for giving them such a fun way to memorize facts that can seem boring and hard to grasp at times. I remember things like pronouns, compound personal pronouns, direct objects, and other grammar rules confusing me singing these songs helped me to understand the concepts and remember them!
